Jesus Jones! A Book Deal With A Blog?

Self-annointed blogging "genius," Biz Stone, wrote a very interesting article on How To Get A Book Deal With Your Blog --

Back in the day, book deals were few and far between. You had to be a literary genius, a member of the super-elite writerly crowd, or some kind of insanely talented professional in your field. Then you needed an agent, a publicist, and a body of work to prove you had what it takes to be part of the chosen few, the noble, the proud, the published. Now, you just need a blog and some chutzpah.

He then listed "the secrets of blog-to-book success." Hmmm... let me see if I qualify:

1. Become Obsessed - Check. Can't get enough of blogging. It was like the time when I got obsessed playing chess, wherein I literally saw everyone looking like a chess piece, and analyzing their every move. Yeah, some of my friends think I'm nuts too when I started blogging. And I'm beginning to think they're right.

2. Be The Blog - Sounds like a cliche, like Jesus Jones's Right Here, Right Now. But this injunction has a lot of firepower and wisdom to offer. And so I've added blogging to my list of Integral Transformative Practice.

3. Be Part of a Dream Team - Damn, this is a little iffy. But I also blog here.

4. Blaze Your Own Path - I'm one of those who came in late in the blogwagon. And I don't think of myself as a trailblazer. But if there's one thing I hope to accomplish (and promote) through this blogsite, it's that, blogging ought to be done with passion and compassion.

5. Get Your Deal with The Whole Blogging Deal - I love Typepad, hold a high respect for Movable Type, and proud of Blogger profile 2160757.
   

I don't know what my blogging muse has in store for me, or what my blogging gig would evolve into months or even years from now. All I know is that from now on, everytime I blog a post this long, I'll be hearing Jesus Jones singin' in the background.
