Lurve is IN the Cyber-air

"Yeah, okay, so my standards are too high. We all know that. But what am I gonna do? And what are all of us gonna do if we can't find someone locally who is is interested in Integral or has similar AQAL values as us?"

- IN Forum: Dating Services/Websites
A mocking bird (let's just call him djrekluse) pointed me to an IN Forum thread about internet/online dating. Reading through the thread, it looks like some IN junkies are already proficient at it, some are even unbelievably lucky, while some had already managed to hook up via the IN Forum, even without IN running an algorythmic match-making service (hello Marco, hello). Good for them.

In the extreme world of Tom Leykis, people who do internet dating, are "losers" or "poindexters" who have no social skills to "close the deal." Extreme point-of-view as it is, there may be some partial truths to it, but in this relative world where the requirement for that special someone seem to be commonality of values, beliefs, philosophy, and passion, the internet has become a handy tool for instantly screening potential mates. It's certainly a lot faster, safer, and more effective than traditional snail-mail, randomly dialing phone numbers on a Friday night, or puking in the alley after a long night in a bar. But as always this technology should be treated with more vigilance. Just like in meatspace, for every sincere, authentic, lonely person out there trying to reach out or just wanting to have some clean fun, there are perverts, lying bastards (um, everybody lies online anyway), and predators who wouldn't think twice on crapping all over your value system. And therein lies the rub. So have you done online dating lately? Let's hear it.

Some popular sites where you can "hook it up": match.com, eharmony.com, myspace.com, friendster.com, craigslist.com, integralnaked.org/forum

Then said Almitra, "Speak to us of Love." Then Snake goes, "*sniff sniff* what! that smells like regular! she needs Premium Dude!.....PREEEMIUUUUM!"

It is better to choose small sites, local.
