I'm not obsessed with UFOs, Are You?

I'm really not that obsessed with UFOs. But I do admit that the subject interests me. Who isn't? This is, arguably, one of the most (if not the) important issues that would have global economic, political, societal, environmental, philosophical, and spiritual impact on all of us. And yet, even presidential candidates are mocked and laughed at as soon as they open their mouths about UFOs. Ah, well...

So before I return to regular programming (read: other senseless ramblings on my blog) I'd like to make one more post on this topic.

I recently subscribed to The Disclosure Project email list so I could find out more about their claims and cast a critical lens on them. Serendipitously, I just received a press release via email. I'm publishing it here because receipients were encouraged to do so.

Subject: [Disclosure Project] Press Release - Please forward to all newsgroups, email lists, etc.

INSIDERS EXPOSE REASONS FOR UFO SECRECY

Disclosure Project (www.DisclosureProject.org) Director Dr. Steven M. Greer reports that government insiders have revealed the existence of a shadowy, highly classified program related to UFOs.

The reasons for the secrecy are simple: The inertia of highly classified programs, embarrassment over past illegal actions taken to enforce secrecy, and the fact that the energy and propulsion systems behind the mysterious UFO objects have been studied and fully understood. This disclosure would spell the end for oil, gas, coal and other conventional forms of power - and with that, the end of the current oil-based geopolitical order and economy. The truth is our tax dollars have been used to investigate this matter for decades and it is time for a dividend on that investment. The full disclosure of the facts will enable humanity to attain a sustainable civilization without global warming or the need for oil.

Recent calls for a US government investigation into UFOs have not taken into account the fact that such investigations are on-going, highly compartmented and top-secret.

Dr. Greer states, "As early as 1993, when I personally briefed CIA Director James Woolsey on the UFO matter, we knew of on-going, secret projects to which President Clinton and Mr. Woolsey were denied access.  The senior counsel for the Senate Appropriations Committee, then headed by Senator Byrd (D-WV) told me directly that upwards of $100 billion per year was going into so-called 'black' projects, including UFO programs, but that with a top-secret clearance and a subpoena power, he could not penetrate the veil of secrecy."

Subsequently, working with philanthropist Laurence Rockefeller, Dr. Greer provided in-depth briefing materials for President Clinton and Hillary Clinton, who reviewed the matter while staying at the Rockefeller's JY Ranch. (The briefing materials are at www.DisclosureProject.org).

Dr. Greer reports that "The Clintons refused further disclosure of the!matter. CIA Director Woolsey frankly stated that they could not disclose programs over which they had no control or access. Mr. Woolsey and the Clintons were shaken by the secrecy, and the power behind it."

Since then, The Disclosure Project has uncovered thousands of official US documents and top-secret military and corporate witnesses to programs dealing with UFOs, including project code names and numbers.  Such operations are rogue and are beyond the scope of Congressional oversight committees.

For further information or for an interview with Dr. Greer contact: http://www.DisclosureProject.org.

Note: The two paragraphs referring to Laurence Rockefeller and to Bill and Hillary Clinton had to be removed from this press release when we sent it out through our press release service - PRNewswire.com, because they refused to send out the original press release with those references. It was referred up  the chain of command at their organization and censored by them. When you think that we have a free press, think again. This was not even censored by the outlets themselves, but by the entry point to those outlets!

Here is the link to the actual press release at EarthTimes.org:

As you will see, the two paragraphs with references to Rockefeller and The Clintons have been removed. Ah, well…

And here's a link to the briefing materials referenced in the press release. Note that a minimum of $5 donation is required to have full access to the briefing materials: http://www.disclosureproject.org/access.htm

What the heck is this Briefing Document? Here's a description:

Description of contents:

500+ page Briefing Document and the 70+ page Executive Summary. These materials were designed to educate the leaders of society. A hard copy of the Executive Summary was hand delivered to the office of each member of Congress in the weeks prior to the May 9th Press Conference.

The Executive Summary is a summary of the materials in the Briefing Document. Click on the following links for more information:
   # About The Executive Summary - List of Witnesses
   # Witness Testimony Samples

The Briefing Document includes the following:
   # Insightful papers by Dr. Greer that put the issues around the UFO/ETI subject into perspective. He explains the implications for the environment, world peace, world poverty and the human future.
   # Summary of transcripts of witness testimony from dozens of military, government and corporate witnesses.
   # Well researched background cases of UFO sightings and landings.
   # Dozens of Government documents related to UFO sightings showing the Government's knowledge and involvement in the subject for decades.

Just to get this out of the way… I'm sharing this information but it doesn't mean that I buy everything hook, line, and sinker. Take the information as it is. I'm posting it here to elicit a civilized, rational, and informed discussions on the matter.

In the press release, Greer referenced actual names of high profile personalities (e.g. Rockefeller, Woolsey, The Clintons). If you've watched Greer's videos (like this video) you'll notice that he repeats this story a lot and claims that he can back it up with solid evidence and documents, photos, videos, etc. (i.e. The Briefing Document)

Now, it's possible that Greer is a deluded crackpot who is lying to his teeth. BUT, think about it for a moment. If he's a deluded lying crackpot, it's so easy to dismiss him! One denial from Woolsey, Rockefeller, The Clintons, and Kucinich, about their associations with Greer would tarnish his credibility forever! And yet, Greer is still out there and had successfully convinced 400+ *credible* witnesses to join The Disclosure Project?

So what does that tell you? You decide.

That's all for now. Now back to “reality.”

UFO Disclosures, Conspiracies, and Consciousness

Yesterday was a monumental day for UFO enthusiasts, UFOlogists, and yes, even conspiracy theorists. There was a conference held at the National Press Club on the topic of close encounters with UFOs. Here's the PRWeb release of the event:

"Former Arizona Governor Fife Symington will moderate a distinguished panel of former high-ranking government, aviation, and military officials from seven countries to discuss close encounters with what the US Air Force describes as Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). Representatives from France, England, Belgium, Chile, Peru, Iran and the US will call for the US Government to join in an international dialogue and re-open its investigation – which the Air Force shut down over 30 years ago – in cooperation with other governments currently dealing with this unusual and controversial phenomenon. While on active duty, the panelists have either witnessed a UFO incident or have conducted an official investigation into UFO cases relevant to aviation safety and national security."

Take note that the people in the panel discussion are not your average UFO crackpots, Roswell spooks and New Age nuts. They are people with impeccable credentials. One of them is Nick Pope, Ministry of Defence, UK (1985-2006).

It's easy to dismiss individuals without credentials claiming to witness a close encounter. It's also easy to dismiss individuals even if they have good credentials. But if it's a group of individuals, from around the world, with impeccable credentials, and who are willing to testify before Congress to tell their story, then it would be bordering on the irrational to ignore them altogether. But ignore them is what the mainstream media in the U.S. just did. As far as I know only CNN covered the conference in detail. Most news reports I've seen so far are short articles with a couple of quotes from the panel members then ending the report with quotes from an opposing view. But even CNN's coverage is a bit *watered down.* Check out this video of the Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.

And here's another video: CNN About UFO Debate at the National Press Club.

CNN also covered this event on Anderson Cooper 360.

I watched it last night but not much there either. Just a lemon-eating debate between James Fox (the organizer of the UFO conference and Executive Producer of the documentary, Out of the Blue) and a skeptic, James McGaha. You're better off watching the Larry King Live UFO special.

Anyway, most news coverage I've read didn't mention that the National Press Club UFO Conference was a continuation of the effort by (or has connections with) The Disclosure Project which was started in May 9, 2001, headed by Dr. Steven Greer.

Check out this two-hour video: The Disclosure Project May 9th, 2001 National Press Club Conference.

I'm no conspiracy theorist but when important issues like this are buried (or not covered) by the media, I pay more attention.

Now, why is this an important issue you might ask? Well, let's just say that if Dr. Steven Greer (and all the members and supporters of The Disclosure Project) is correct, then solutions to our energy crisis, Global Warming, poverty, and other issues that plague humanity lie in the full disclosure of our contact with extraterrestrials. Check out the following lengthy videos of Steven Greer giving lectures.

Xcon 2004 - Steven Greer, M.D. - The Untold Story of the Disclosure Project
(note: in this video, Steven Greer's arguments are hair-raising. he's arguing from an alternative energy perspective. remember that this video was during a 2004 conference. Greer mentioned that we're lucky if the price of oil is $10 per barrel in 5 years. well, the price of oil per barrel as of this writing is a whopping $94.65 per barrel!) [ed note: Casey had corrected me on this. Greer actually mentioned "You think gas is expensive now? Wait five or ten years. You'll be lucky if you can buy it for five or ten dollars a gallon." (see 11:58 mark on this video)]

UFO Disclosure Project - Dr. Steven Greer - Hidden Truth Forbidden Knowledge
(note: check out the 1:09:12 mark where he talked about meeting Dennis Kucinich.)

I know. It sounds like a high-tech mythology of the Second Coming, or a souped-up version of New Age 2012. To be honest, my head is still spinning from the ongoing research that I'm doing. I admit that there are times when Greer sounds like a nut-case. But then if he's a nut-case, why did he have access to Bill Clinton and the CIA director (as he claims)? Why would Dennis Kucinich and other prominent politicians and government officials pay him a visit? And how could he organize 400+ people with high profile credentials and convince them to testify before Congress to tell their story?

I don't know. I'm new to Steven Greer. So I'm keeping Greer on my radar to see what he's up to and what the skeptics are saying about him as well.

Speaking of Dennis Kucinich, that poor guy got ridiculed in the media for sticking to his story about him witnessing a UFO. The media is now painting him like a nut-case and using that incident to question is candidacy. That's what you get for opening your mouth about UFOs. It's alright to profess your belief in God. But damn you, if you believe in UFOs. Ah, well.

Ok, back to Steven Greer… What I find interesting about his perspective is that he's arguing from the perspective of energy crisis, Global Warming, sustainability, poverty, consciousness-raising and spirituality. He's no slouch when it comes to mystical teachings either. He studied Transcendental meditation and he now teaches meditation, on how to contact E.Ts. According to Greer, samadhi is a protocol to get in touch with E.T.s and the teeming consciousness all around us. I know, sounds crazy, right? But regardless of Greer's state of sanity, I find The Disclosure Project very intriguing and deserving of people's attention. The project's main objectives are very rational:

-- To hold open, secrecy-free hearings on the UFO/Extraterrestrial presence on and around Earth.

-- To hold open hearings on advanced energy and propulsion systems that, when publicly released, will provide solutions to global environmental challenges.

-- To enact legislation which will ban all space-based weapons.

-- To enact comprehensive legislation to research, develop and explore space peacefully and cooperatively with all cultures on Earth and in space.

Add to that, the list of credible witnesses in The Disclosure Project and we've got a reasonable doubt that there is a conspiracy to suppress information about UFO and extraterrestrials.

Having said that, let's keep our critical thinking caps on. Let's maintain a healthy skepticism for the sake of relative truth, not for the sake of hardcore and irrational skepticism.

So allow me to end with a skeptical note: What's stopping UFOs from landing in the middle of a live major league baseball game, or a football game, where thousands of people could witness the event, not to mention the millions of people watching on their TVs? No government could suppress this information. No need for Congressional hearings. And this would definitely change our world.

P.S. There's also an ongoing discussion about this on the I-I pod. Feel free to put in your two cents. Speaking of I-I, remember Joe Firmage? ;)

UFOs: The Truth (whatever it is) is Out There

I'd like to take a break from Iraq, Global Warming and the God/Religion debates for a moment and switch to something, arguably, more interesting and mind-blowing topic. Yep, UFOs.

Dennis Kucinich recently got ridiculed in the mainstream media for admitting that he witnessed a UFO. Poor guy. But he's only one of the high profile politicians who had reported seeing a UFO. Jimmy Carter recounted his story during the Larry King Live special on UFOs. Countless evidence of UFO sightings have been documented around the world. The political media climate in the U.S. is more tolerant of religious canditates who profess to believe in God than people who are truthful about claiming something that they have witnessed. Ah well.

Anyway, for those who missed the Presidential debate where Kucinich got ridiculed for admitting to witnessing a UFO, here's the video:

And here's Shirley Maclaine during the Larry King UFO interview. You can watch the entire Larry King Live show here.

Finally, here's two-hour long video of the 2001 UFO Disclosure Project meeting. Take this information for what it is and make up your own minds. See The Disclosure Project for more info.

As for me, the only thing that will convince me beyond reasonable doubt is a first-hand experience, not only of a sighting, but a close encounter of the third kind.

I grew up in a generation conditioned to accept the possibility of other intelligent life forms out there aside from us. Thanks to Hollywood, UFO documentaries, and government conspiracies to cover-up (or not disclose) UFO reports, a lot of people in my generation, and the younger generation I presume, are already open to the possibility of extraterrestrial intelligence. To us, it's no longer a question of whether such intelligence exists. It's a matter of when we're gonna make contact (and make it official).

In the meantime, I'll keep wearing my skeptical lens while keeping myself informed of evidence and rebuttals from the skeptic camps.

I Hire Dead People

After seeing this ad on Jim Callahan's website, I now understand why Criss Angel acted like a jerk on live TV during last night's Phenomenon.

JOB OPENINGS FOR THE DEAD
(Sign up now before it's too late!)
Possible $1,000,000.00 Here.

I am currently searching for persons who would like to work with in my future productions and experiments.

I have openings starting as early as December 1st when rehearsal for my new show begins. You will receive billing as being part of the show and compensated for your assistance.

I am in need of people who are interested in employment after their deaths. You must fill out the employment form found here.

.....

Those who commit suicide are not eligible for a position in this current show and will not be considered for inclusion in our data base nor are those who are murdered by those wishing to get someone into the show (though we have found this ad being forwarded to those who wish their coworkers the best of luck in finding a new job with us!).

Those who will be dead as a result of capital punishment or euthanasia will be considered on a case by case basis.

Whoah! You mean I can be employed after my death? Wow! Do I have to pay taxes too? This is just plain silly to me.

As much as I want to believe in psi and the paranormal, I'm with Criss Angel on this one.

Anyway, I don't care too much about this altercation at this point because it takes away the attention from the other contestants who are more entertaining.

Case in point: Angela Funovits gets my vote. See her emotional performance in this video.
